History
World Relief began in the 1940s as the War Relief Commission of the National Association of Evangelicals, founded in New York City to address urgent humanitarian needs in war-torn Europe. In the 1950s it changed its name to World Relief and launched operations in Korea. In 1979 it launched its refugee resettlement ministry, helping Vietnamese boat people adjust to life in America. The headquarters relocated to Baltimore, Maryland in 2001, and in 2014 the organization celebrated its 70th birthday and 35 years of refugee resettlement in the United States.
