Mission
Rewiring America's stated purpose is to make electrification simple, measurable, and inevitable, putting American households at the center of an affordable, resilient, all-electric future — with an emphasis on ensuring that everyone, particularly those most affected by climate, economic, and racial injustice, can participate.
What they do
The organization works across three streams: household electrification, community engagement, and market transformation.
- Consumer tools and campaigns — including the Personal Electrification Planner (PEP) and a savings calculator that help households plan upgrades and find money-saving incentives.
- Community electrification — working in communities to provide financing, resourcing, tools, training, and electric coaches to support local electrification efforts.
- Market transformation and policy — partnering with policymakers, industry leaders, manufacturers, workers, and communities to strengthen the electric grid, lower energy prices, and build homegrown energy solutions, with advocacy at the federal and state levels.
- Developer tools — the Rewiring America API and Incentives API, which let partners embed electrification incentive and savings data into their own products.
Leadership and governance
Rewiring America was founded by Ari Matusiak, who serves as President and CEO; Alex Laskey, Founder and Executive Chair; and Saul Griffith, an engineer and entrepreneur specializing in clean and renewable energy technologies who has founded a dozen technology companies across 20 years in Silicon Valley. Matusiak also founded and co-chairs Power Forward Communities, a coalition awarded $2 billion from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to decarbonize and reinvest in American households. As a nonpartisan 501(c)(3), the organization is subject to federal, state, and local restrictions on political activity and does not support or oppose candidates.
