About

Girls Who Code is a nonprofit on a mission to close the gender gap in technology. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in New York City, it offers free coding programs for girls, women, and nonbinary individuals, from after-school clubs for students to career support for college-aged alumni. The organization has expanded its focus to artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, and states it is on track to close the gender gap in new entry-level tech jobs by 2030.

Mission

To close the gender gap in technology, guided by core values of bravery, sisterhood, and activism. Girls Who Code emphasizes breaking down barriers to AI and other emergent technologies and building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the world.

  • Career programming such as Hiring Season, which drew over 3,000 participants in 2024, and the Cyber Education Alliance launched with 21 partner organizations
