FINCA International is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit that has been working to end global poverty since 1984 through sustainable, scalable solutions inspired by the insights and needs of the people it serves. Together with its partners, FINCA works in more than 45 countries across five continents, focusing on smallholder farmers, families on the margins, and microbusinesses — 80% of its clients earn their income through selling goods or providing services.

  • Financial Empowerment: financial solutions and education that help people grow their incomes and build financial stability
  • Impact Investing: through FINCA Ventures, investing in high-impact, early-stage businesses creating products and services that help communities become more resilient and prosperous, including an annual FINCA Ventures Prize Competition for rising entrepreneurs
  • Research and Innovation: understanding customer needs and measuring impact to deliver scalable solutions that address the root causes of poverty
  • 361 by FINCA: building a first-of-a-kind operating platform to more efficiently meet customers' financial health needs at a lower cost

Scale and impact

As reported in June 2023, FINCA and its partners directly impacted the lives of approximately 9 million people in the prior year. FINCA and its investees employ more than 9,000 people around the world, nearly all of whom live and work in the countries where services are delivered. The organization states that 97% of every dollar spent goes to support its programs globally, and that its work helps clients build livelihood, resilience, and education for their families.
